Geographical position and climatic characteristics.

Krynica (the city and the health resort) is situated at eastern periphery of the Beskid Sądecki Mountain Range in the valley of Kryniczanka torrent. This health resort called “the pearl of the spas”, is surrounded by arborous slants of the Parkowa Mount (741m above the sea level), Krzyżowa (819 m above the sea level) and Jasiennik (766 m above the sea level). The climate of Krynica is distinguished by a complex of specific features which are determined by its geographical position, altitude above the sea level and configuration of the ground. Most of buildings of this health resort are situated at the altitude from about 560 to 620 m above the sea level, at the bottom of the dell, whereas the centre of the health resort lies in the opened southwards valley of the Kryniczanka creek. The dissimilarity of air composition is determined by presence of chemical elements. A decreased quantity of iodine is periodically desirable for treatment of some diseases. The content of ozone in Krynica’s air is on the average by 30% higher than at lowlands. The content of essential oils plays significant role in the composition and taste of the air. These oils have bactericidal activity and alleviating influence on psyche.
